Carol Baker - Co-opted Governor

I am delighted to be invited to be a School Governor at Croft Primary School.

I am retired police officer having served with Greater Manchester police in the 1980’s and 1990’s. Upon retiring to be a stay-at-home parent, I commenced volunteering with ChildLine as a children’s counsellor. A role I enjoyed and allowed me to use my experience and continued with my desire and passion to make the world a safer happier place for children.

During my children’s school years, I was very involved at my son’s primary and senior schools where I led the Parents associations.

From 1992 I volunteered with England Rugby (Union) and a Club Safeguarding Officer for 26 years.

From 1994 until present (continuing and still volunteering) I am the Lancashire County Rugby Union Safeguarding Manager. Overseeing safeguarding of 80 Club Safeguarding Officers; looking after children and adults at in over 68 rugby clubs in Lancashire. Again, using my knowledge and experience in Child Protection and rugby. I also sit on the Lancashire Rugby Executive Board and was honoured to be Lancashire Rugby President in 2023.

I am currently in a part time/consultancy capacity as The Designated Safeguarding Officer at Sale Sharks Premiership Rugby Club.

Although not a parent at Croft Primary School I am a grandparent of one of the pupils.

I have many links with Croft and the school.

Four of my nephews have been pupils here, though now grown up and have families of their own.

My late mother was a very happy resident in Croft for a number of years.

More importantly, I am a grandparent of a pupil in reception and his two brothers, who will be following in a couple of years when their time comes.

I am experienced in Safeguarding yes, but I am willing and more than happy to use my life experiences and knowledge in various fields, as a Governor at this school for the benefit of all pupils, staff, parents and community

I look forward to meeting you and helping in any way I can.

To continue with the effective and profession management of this wonderful school. Improving outcomes for all and continuing to ensure Croft Primary School is the happy well-run school it is.
